The BlueJay baseball team opened the 2012 season with a home win over a competitive 4A Bethel team.
Guthrie (1-0) got five solid innings from Blaze Hastings (1-0) while Jacob Chappell finished the final two innings.
The offense spread out nine hits while scoring 10 runs to collect the 10-3 win. Bethel is now 1-1 after picking up a 7-5 win over Wynnewood the following day. A year ago, the Wildcats were 23-6.
Chappell and Reed Roberts led the way at the plate with two hits each while Hayden Seifert collected four runs batted in.
Up next for the Jays will be another home game when Cashion (4:00) comes to town on Thursday. The following day, Guthrie travels for the first time and will take on Norman High (4:30).
The Jays are coming off a 27-13 campaign and a state tournament appearance.
