Head-on collision claims life of Guthrie man

A 25-year-old Guthrie man was killed in a head-on collision in Major County late Monday evening.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle accident occurred at 11:20 p.m. on U.S. 412 about 3.5 miles east of State Highway 8 and three miles east of the small town of Cleo.

Clayton Daniel Martin, of Guthrie, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 19-year-old passenger was transported to an Enid hospital and admitted in critical condition with head, arm, leg, trunk internal and trunk external injuries. His name is currently being withheld.

Troopers say Martin was driving a 2004 jeep westbound on U.S. 412 and traveled left of center and striking a 2011 Dodge pickup head-on, which was travelling eastbound on 412.

The driver of the pickup, Joshua Robert Porter, 36, of Enid was transported to Integris Baptist in Oklahoma City and admitted in serious condition with head, arm, leg, trunk internal and trunk external injuries. His passenger, Greg Peterson, 30, of Enid, was treated and release from an Enid hospital.

Both drivers were pinned and needed to be extricated.

The patrol’s report shows the accident still under investigation.

All four men were wearing seatbelts.
