Highway 33 project nearing completion; street lights activated

Everything is just about a go for the completion of Highway 33 on Guthrie’s east side.

On Tuesday morning, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) powered up the street lights at the intersection of Pine and Noble as well as the newly installed lights at the Interstate 35 on and off ramps.

The 1.3 mile rehabilitation of the highway (Noble Ave.) started at Drexel St. and extends near Highway 105.

Along with the street lights, sod is being laid down and watered along the roadway and median.

Joe Echelle, who is overlooking the project for ODOT, says the $5.1 million project has a few miscellaneous items to finish up, but says the project will be completely done by the end of the month.

Echelle says he is hopeful a ribbon cutting will be held with the City of Guthrie.
