Home destroyed early Wednesday morning; one person sustains burns

Despite multiple fire departments responding, a home north of Guthrie was destroyed by fire.

The Guthrie Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire on Beemer Road just west of SH-77 (north of the high school). The call came in at 5:44 a.m.

A Guthrie police officer was first on the scene and reported the home was fully involved with fire.

Firefighters arrived shortly and requested mutual assistance from Coyle, Sooner, and Oak Cliff fire departments.

Soon after firefighters were forced to go to a defensive fire and prevent the flames from spreading into a wooded area behind the home.

One person from the residence was reported to have first-degree burns to their legs and hand. That person was treated at the scene by Guthrie EMS and Miller EMS.

OG&E was called to the home due to multiple down power lines.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

Update at 6:58 a.m. — The fire victim was transported non-emergency to Mercy Hospital Logan County.

Fire crews will be on the scene for a few more hours.
