Two people escape early morning house fire

Guthrie firefighters had a losing battle once they arrived on the scene of an early morning house fire.

At around 3:30 a.m. Monday, fire crews arrived at the 1700 block of Ken Dr. and found a garage fully involved with flames that vented over into the home’s attic and roof.

Two people were reported to be inside and could make it outside. One person was found with minor injuries to their arms.

Firefighters benefited from a fire hydrant across the street. Once crews were able to get inside the home and tear down the ceiling’s sheetrock, they were able to extinguish the heavy flames.

The fire also destroyed a truck parked outside.

The back side of the home’s roof collapsed, leaving the home a total loss.

Oak Cliff and Sooner fire departments assisted Guthrie.

OG&E, ONG, and the Red Cross were called out as well.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known at the scene.
