One house fire is enough for a family, but a Guthrie family has endured two house fires in two days and now three in four months.
Guthrie fire crews were dispatched, at approximately 9:30 a.m. Saturday, to 530 Jon Street for a single family home fire that was sparked in the northeast part of the home.
Oak Cliff assisted the Guthrie fire crew.
The State Fire Marshall Office was called to the scene, where it was determined electric wiring was the source of the fire inside a breaker box of the master bedroom.
It was ruled suspicious until the Marshall Office completed their investigation.
According to a family member, the father had left for work and the mother and their three children soon after left the home and were on their way to a convenient store for breakfast when they stopped at a neighbor’s house to visit when they saw smoke in the sky.
The day before (Friday), the fire department extinguished a fire inside the garage and is estimated to have done $1,000 of damage. Saturday’s fire occurred on the opposite side of the home of the garage. Related story: Garage fire on Jon Street
In both fires, the home was unoccupied.
The family, who is renting the home, moved from Crescent after their home was destroyed in a fire last September.
