Guthrie collected their third win in a row with a 56-0 win over the Noble Bears on Homecoming Night. The Jays switch their attention to the defending state champions as the state will be looking in on the Jays and Carl Albert Titans.
Here is how the Guthrie’s opponents did this week:
Duncan 43, Northwest 22
Duncan continued their hopes of winning a district title with a three-touchdown win over the Knights. The Demons are now 3-0 in district play and 4-2 overall.
Ponca City 34, Stillwater 31
Ponca City quarterback Brent Wilson had one more big play than Stillwater quarterback Jerame Littell as the Wildcats won 34-31.
Wilson converted a 4th-and-9 with 49 seconds remaining that advanced the ball from down to the Stillwater 1-yard line on a 60-yard pass play to Kitt Herron. Wilson scored the game-winning touchdown two plays later with a pass to Tyler Wilson with 27 seconds remaining.
Enid 44, Sand Springs 29
Plainsmen quarterback Alex Patterson threw for 254 yards and three touchdowns, however the game was a lot closer than the score appears with two late Enid scores. The Plainsmen are now 5-1 on the season.
Deer Creek 35, El Reno 13
Alex Christensen had 38 carries for 246 yards and four touchdowns in Deer Creek’s 35-13 win at El Reno Friday night.
Ada 40, Western Heights 0
Western Heights was wanting to spoil Homecoming for two opponents in two weeks, but Ada was not having any part of it. The Cougars shut-out the Jets and improve to 3-3 on the year.
Carl Albert 72, Southeast 0
It was safe to assume the defending state champions were not looking past the Southeast Spartans as the Titans demolished the Spartans. The Titans only loss this season came to top ranked Tulsa Washington.
