The Guthrie boys Cross Country team was unable to defend last year’s Cottonwood Flats team win, but they were unable to defend their title in Weatherford this past Saturday.
Despite winning by just 16 points over Weatherford, who last year finished second place 58 points behind the Jays, Guthrie picked up their first win of the 2010 season.
Jonathan Ogan for the second straight week placed second in a time of 10:35 in the two-mile run. In total, the Jays crossed four of the top six runners. The winning time of 10:06 came from Watonga’s Nigel Hampton. Last season, Hampton finished second behind Guthrie alum Jason Ogan.
Jays senior runner Zac Cates came across in 10:45 for third overall, Hunter Sallee finished fifth with a time of 10:50, and Walker Cross was shortly behind Sallee with a time of 10:52. Adam Berry was 17th overall in 11:36, Alex Dorio 31st in 12:26, and Evan Watts 34th with a12:35.
