The Guthrie boys cross country team placed two of the top three runners and four in the top 10 of the Kingfisher meet, but still fell short of winning the race for the second consecutive year.

Watonga prevailed in the team competition by a narrow gap of three points. The Eagles Nigel Hampton came across first for the top honor, but Guthrie’s Zack Cates and Jonathan Ogan were just behind him.

Hunter Salle and Walker Cross each had top 10 places with 8th and 10th places, respectively. Adam Beery finished 32nd overall.

Beery was the top placer for the Jays when he came across in fourth place. Other runners for Guthrie included: Evan Watts, Leroy Unruh, Taylor Self, Kyle Owens, Sean Harvey, Lex Dorio, Michael Gunther, Jayke Eggelston, Preston Milner, and Jay Kuruvilla.

Lauren Toney, Katelyn Hinkle, and Lauren Hoag ran their first race of the season at the PC North meet.

Next up for the varsity will be the very popular Cowboy Jamboree, Saturday, in Stillwater.
