Jays looking to continue momentum for a playoff spot

The Guthrie Bluejays will finish their regular season with two consecutive trips to Western Oklahoma with the first coming Friday night in Woodward. The Jays are looking to control their own destiny with two wins and a touch of help.

The game can be heard on Hot 93.7 FM, online at Guthrie News Page, Guthrie Sports Page and the live video feed below (www.youtube.com/GuthrieNews). Note: With unknown internet bandwidth in Woodward, the game could be streamed on Facebook. Stay tuned for further details.

Guthrie and Woodward enter with identical records (3-5 overall and 2-3 in district play). The Bluejays want two wins in a row (Guymon next week) and a McGuinness or Carl Albert win over Piedmont to secure their 13th straight playoff appearance.

Woodward is needing some additional help as well, but will be challenged with Guthrie and Carl Albert left on the schedule.

Piedmont, who is currently 3-2 in district play, is the third team looking for the final playoff spot, but also have Carl Albert and McGuinness left on their schedule.

While the playoff scenario will be interesting to watch, Guthrie must first take care of business with the Boomers.

The Jays are 6-0 against Woodward dating back to 2001, including a home win (41-14) a year ago.

The series overall is deadlocked at 14-14 dating back to 1976.

Up next, Casey and Coach Beeby return.

This is the Interbank Bluejay Kickoff Show.
