Jays take fourth in Kingfisher under the Maxwell format

The Guthrie High School boy’s golf team ran into a familiar foe and a couple of stout private schools on Monday at Kingfisher Golf Course.

Rather than play than each of the five golfers playing with other schools then turning in their top four scores, the tournament was decided under the Maxwell Scoring Format where all five golfers from the same school play together and the best four scores are recorded for each hole.

The Bluejays finished in fourth out of the 16 squads in attendance with a team score of 294 strokes.

The Jays played their typical solid round with the trio of freshman Luke Morgan, Luke Roach and Bo Robbins shooting 73, 75, and 76 respectively, while senior Jarrott Gates fired an 80 and sophomore Luke Dale came in with an 88.

Unfortunately it was not enough as Oklahoma Christian School shot 286, Heritage Hall fired a 288 and 5A Foe Piedmont came in 3rd with a 292.

The Jays will now have two weeks off to practice and prepare for their next event at Shawnee Country Club on April 24.
