The Homecoming crowd saw their Guthrie BlueJays score four times in the opening quarter to easily stay unbeaten with a 59-6 win over Western Heights. The Jays remain the lone team in Class 5A without a loss, but will severely tested with a trip to Carl Albert.
The Jays running game of Kai Callins and Idae Alexander combined for six scores and 231 yards. Callins needed 10 carries to reach 126 yards to make it 100-yards plus in each of the five games. Alexander racked up a career high 105 yards and marks the second time to go over triple digits (101 Enid).

Alexander started the scoring with an 8-yard run out to go up 7-0 just 3:01 into the game.
Callins got into the end zone three minutes later for the first time on an 18-yard run. In the first quarter alone, Callins rushed six times for 92 yards and continues to lead the state’s second largest class (seventh in the state) in scoring with 96 total points.
Up 14-0, quarterback Reed Roberts scored his second rushing touchdown on the year with an 11-yard run. Roberts finished 9-of-15 passing for 153 yards.
The final first quarter score came with :11 when Alexander scampered in for a 10-yard run.
Guthrie (5-0) got their lone passing score with 3:57 left before the half when Roberts hit Callins for a 29-yard screen pass to go up 35-0. The score was the first for Callins on the receiving end and finished with four catches to collect 47 yards.
Just before the half, kicker Luis Morales booted a 33-yard field goal down the middle that would have been good from 50-yards as it sailed over the Rock to send the Jays to halftime up 38-0.
The BlueJays added three more scores in the third quarter, including a defensive score when senior Payton Haynes batted a Koby King pass up in the air that fell into the hands of senior Conner Howard who ran in for an 18-yard score.

The Guthrie defense allowed 67 yards of total offense and a sparing 2-yards rushing. In the past three games, the Jays have allowed 4-yards rushing. To drill the point, Guthrie has held their five opponents, who are a combined 4-20, to negative three-yards on the ground.
The lone Heights score came on the game’s last play with King hitting Kevin Rassatt with a 10-yard pass.
The Jays travel to defending state champion Carl Albert for a showdown between the top two ranked teams. The Titans are riding a four game winning streak, including back-to-back wins over Deer Creek and McGuinness.
