The Guthrie Junior High baseball punched their ticket to the championship game of their own tournament on Saturday afternoon with a five inning 8-0 win over Stillwater.
The Jays finished 3-0 in pool play with wins over Cashion, Kingfisher and Stillwater and now will wait to see who they will play in the finals of the Guthrie Invitational between Alva and Harrah.
Guthrie got five shut-out innings on the mound from Jackson Waddell, who surrendered only three hits to Stillwater.
Waddell helped himself at the plate with a double and a two RBI single from the leadoff spot.
Guthrie got rolling in the second inning by scoring four runs with hits coming from Waddell, Marcellous Owens, Bryce Robinson and Blake Curtin.
The Jays continued their momentum and opened the game in the third by pounding out three hits, including the two RBI single from Waddell. Curtin added a RBI single to increase the score 7-0.
Cale Coffman, after reaching on an error, scored the game’s final run in the fifth inning when Brody Hinkle singled up the middle.
