The Guthrie Junior High boy’s golf team participated in the Mustang North Middle School Tournament at Crimson Creek Golf Course in El Reno. Despite windy conditions, the Jays came away with a first place finish.
The scramble format featured two players from each school to form two teams each. From there, both scores would be added together at the conclusion of the round to determine the winning team.
Guthrie eighth graders Bo Robbins and Luke Morgan were paired together while eighth grader Luke Roach and seventh grader Jaxon Hirzel formed a duo.
When it was all said and done, the boys from Guthrie put together a cumulative score of 151, which when combined with 40 mph wind gusts coming off Lake El Reno, the score was good enough for a 17-shot victory over the host school Mustang North.
The Guthrie team will tee it up again on Thursday at Cedar Valley International for their annual tournament.
