Guthrie senior Kai Callins has been named as one of the 12 finalists for the VYPE Mr. Football Oklahoma. Now he needs your vote to achieve the title – Mr. Football Oklahoma.
Callins, who has rushed for more than 1,500 yards and 27 scores, has helped aid his team to an unbeaten season (13-0) and a date in the state championship game. On defense, Callins has added six interceptions, including one for a score.
As of Wednesday morning, Callins ranked third in the voting with 15 percent or 260 votes. Leading the way early is Seminole’s Papi White with 590 votes and 33 percent.
The winner will be announced in January.
This young man made quite an impresson on my 8 year old. He and some other players went to Fogarty during Red Ribbon Week and spoke to students and classes about how drugs are bad for you……..My son got his autograph. You would’ve thought Kai was an NFL player. Ryder would not stop talking about it for 2-3 days. He seems like a really good kid with an oh so bright future! I want him to know that he made an impact on students, especially mine! Little ones are watching and he’s a wonderful role model! Good luck, Kai!! I hope you win this title!! : )
