Karrah Dean named GHS assistant softball coach

Guthrie High School is excited to announce the addition of Karrah Dean as the new assistant coach for the Lady Jays softball program, joining Kara Tarrant’s staff in her inaugural season as head coach. Dean, a Guthrie alumna, brings a wealth of experience and a deep connection to the community.

Karrah Dean graduated from Guthrie in 2019, having made significant contributions to the school’s softball team by reaching the state tournament twice during her high school career. Her outstanding performance earned her a spot on the 2018 Large West All-State team in her senior year.

Dean continued her athletic career at the collegiate level, playing Division II softball at Oklahoma Christian University and Southern Nazarene University. At both institutions, she showcased her versatility on the field, excelling as a pitcher, catcher, and first baseman. She recently graduated in the spring of 2024 with a Bachelor’s Degree, while also gaining valuable coaching experience at Rose State College in Midwest City.

In addition to her coaching duties, Karrah Dean will be teaching Fine Arts and Speech at Guthrie High School. Her return to her hometown and alma mater is a testament to her passion for the program.

“I’m so excited to be back in my hometown coaching for a school and program that means so much to me and can’t wait to see where we can take this program,” Karrah shared.
