The Guthrie High School Girls’ soccer team will open the playoffs tonight at top-ranked Piedmont at 5:30 p.m.
The Lady Jays are 6-7 and ranked 5th overall. Piedmont carries an 11-2 and previously blanked the Lady Jays 10-0 in the season opener.
Most recently, the Lady Jays have been on a winning streak topping four of their last five opponents including Capitol Hill, El Reno, Del City and Southeast.
Both the boy’s and girl’s teams finished out the regular season last Tuesday with Senior Night. The girl’s graduate six seniors including Shelly Ellis, Shyla Ellis, McKenzie Farrow, Paige Ledington, Joycelynn Ruttman and Jenna Steiner. They posted a 3-0 win over Southeast on Senior Night.
The boys’ team finished 0-11 in a rebuilding year. They have two seniors including Zion Aquino and Caleb Rutherford.
