The Langston Board of Trustees accepted the resignation of the police chief and on the same day named a new chief.
On March 29, board members accepted the resignation of Chief John Noriega, who took a position with the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
By a unanimous vote, trustees promoted Major Kelly Banwart to the Rank of Chief of Police.
“To my Langston friends and family, thank you for your love and support. The kids and I can’t think of any other place we would rather live,” Banwart said in a social media post.
In addition, the board approved the hiring of Officer Henry Solomon.
