LANGSTON – Langston University stayed perfect at home with a 17-14 win over Southern Nazarene University on Saturday night at W.E. Anderson Stadium. Langston struggled to the move the ball offensively, but got help from a stout defense. Sophomore linebacker Chace Green continued his strong play on the season, intercepting an errant pass from SNU quarterback Dylan Terry and returning it 72 yards for a touchdown. The interception return gave Langston a 7-0 lead with 1 minute remaining in the first quarter.
The Lions would increase the lead midway through the second quarter after an impressive drive, capped off with a touchdown reception from sophomore wide receiver Sheldon Augustine.
SNU would answer back quickly with a touchdown reception of their own. Crimson Storm receiver Sedrick Johnson caught a 29-yard touchdown to cut the lead to 7 shortly before halftime.
SNU quarterback Terry would connect with Johnson on another touchdown pass to even the score at 14-14. Langston responded in the 4th quarter with an Anthony Fernandez field goal that would give LU the lead for good.
Langston plays at Wayland Baptist next Saturday, October 6that 2 p.m.
