LANGSTON – Langston University stayed perfect at home with a 17-14 win over Southern Nazarene University on Saturday night at W.E. Anderson Stadium.  Langston struggled to the move the ball offensively, but got help from a stout defense.  Sophomore linebacker Chace Green continued his strong play on the season, intercepting an errant pass from SNU quarterback Dylan Terry and returning it 72 yards for a touchdown.  The interception return gave Langston a 7-0 lead with 1 minute remaining in the first quarter.

The Lions would increase the lead midway through the second quarter after an impressive drive, capped off with a touchdown reception from sophomore wide receiver Sheldon Augustine.

SNU would answer back quickly with a touchdown reception of their own.  Crimson Storm receiver Sedrick Johnson caught a 29-yard touchdown to cut the lead to 7 shortly before halftime.

SNU quarterback Terry would connect with Johnson on another touchdown pass to even the score at 14-14.  Langston responded in the 4th quarter with an Anthony Fernandez field goal that would give LU the lead for good.

Langston plays at Wayland Baptist next Saturday, October 6that 2 p.m.

Notes: Freshman quarterback Tre Stewart made the first start of his young career…Langston improves to 2-0 at home with the victory over SNU.
