It was not a perfect night for Logan County businesses who sell alcohol, but it was a good night as a teenager attempted to buy alcohol from convenience stores and bars.
Two agencies completed the alcohol compliance check with an under age male volunteer. PreventionWorkz and the Logan County Sheriff’s Office performed the operation on June 9.
The teenager completed an age perception test from 10 random people. The estimated age of the volunteer was 18-years-old.
The volunteer walked into the businesses with “buy money” and for his safety was joined by an undercover agent.
In total, 17 compliance checks were performed with the first 14 business passing and not selling to the teen.
The lone failed check was at the Coyote Creek Club, formerly known as the Pump Jack Tavern, located at 13350 OK-33.
A year ago during checks, four of the 24 businesses failed.
A sheriff’s spokesperson said they were proud of the businesses who are making the effort to check I.D. and deny alcohol sales to underage people. Sheriff officials went on to say that if any underage person attempts to purchase alcohol, they are encouraged to call law enforcement.
List of businesses who refused sale to the minor, include Smitty’s, Guthrie Travel Center, Lakeside Grocery, Rodeo Corner, AJ’s Mini Mart, Tap Room, On Cue, Dollar General (Midwest Blvd.), Petty’s Pit Stop, Mac Corner, Mark’s Shortstop, Bootleggers, IB’s, Riverside Gas and Grill, Prime Foods (Cashion), Crescent Mart.
