The Guthrie Noon Lions Club honored two seniors from Guthrie High School as Students of the Month at a recent meeting. The students recognized were Jillian Chappell and Zane Maltz.
Jillian is the daughter of Jeff and Debbie Chappell. She is heavily involved in a wide array of school activities including being Senior Class President, Homecoming Queen, a member of the high school tennis and basketball teams as well as student council. She is a member of the National Honor Society, has attended Girls State and has already taken a number of advanced/college-level courses offered through GHS. Jillian will be attending Oklahoma State University next year and has not quite determined her major focus.
Zane is the son of Jeff and Shurlyn Maltz and is equally active in numerous activities. He is on the Student Council and is a member of the “Link Crew” which mentors and orients new students to the high school. He is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and an outstanding member of the football and baseball teams. Zane is a member of the National Honors Society, also taking a number of college-level courses during his senior year. He is the Senior Class Vice President, attended Boys State and hopes to continue his education at the Air Force Academy, OU or OSU next fall.
