ODOT officials anxiously await the start of viaduct construction

The widening and reconstruction of the highway (Noble Ave.) is one of several projects listed in the eight-year plan. ODOT has tentatively scheduled an investment of approximately $85.5 million in the coming years throughout Logan County.

“Let you know that those plans for Cottonwood Creek are about 90 percent complete,” Division Engineer Brian Taylor said, who is now the third engineer to take over the $15.2 million project.

ODOT began tearing down homes on the west side in June to begin construction and widening over Cottonwood Creek from 12th street to just east of Division St. The improvements will include, vertical sight distance, reduction of road closures due to flooding and widening the bridge to four-lanes.

Taylor says once the utilities are completed they will begin construction hopefully in early spring of 2016.
