A local electrician was uncertain how someone was stealing copper wire from inside a home not once, not twice but three times. The electrician had enough and found his own way to find the thief.
Jim Case, owner and operator of Case Electric Company, was helping remodel a Guthrie home and came back to see all of his work destroyed. Gone was copper wire and a mess left behind.
The suspect was able to enter the house without breaking a window, or kicking in a door. Case was uncertain how the thief was able to gain access.
Naturally, Case rewired the project only to return and find the same scenario. Now, he was determined to find the culprit.
Case said he set up a game camera in a strategic position and caught the thief on camera.
Turns out the suspect had access to the home the entire time as the contract plumber, according to Case.
Dustin Farrow
Guthrie Police arrested Dustin John Farrow, 37, who has been charged with entering with intent to steal copper and burglary in the second degree.
Case says an estimated 50 pounds of copper ($125) was taken from the home.
According to court papers, Farrow allegedly gained access to the home by using a stolen key.
If found guilty, Farrow could serve jail time and fines up to $10,000.
In Sept. 2010, Farrow pleaded guilty to manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of controlled substance within 2000 ft. of school and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was given a 20 year sentence with 10 years in custody.
In January 2014, Farrow pleaded guilty to transmitting threatening letter. He was given a 10 year sentence with the entire term suspended upon good behavior.
Last week, Farrow pleaded not guilty to the new set of charges and posted a $15,000 bond. He’s expected back in court on Dec. 21.
