Governor appoints Langston University Vice President to OJA Board

OKLAHOMA CITY – Governor Fallin today announced she has appointed Mautra S. Jones to the Office of Juvenile Affairs (OJA) Board of Directors. She fills the seat vacated by Scott Williams, who tendered his resignation as a member of the OJA governing board in September.

Jones serves as vice president for institutional advancement and external affairs for Langston University.  She also serves as executive director of the Langston University Foundation.

“Mautra Jones is aware of what teens and young adults need to be successful,” said Fallin. “Her unique background and perspective will help add to the continuum of care and therapeutic programs that benefit youth served by the Office of Juvenile Affairs.”

Jones previously worked as chief development officer and was responsible for directing all facets of the university’s fundraising, donor and alumni relations, corporate and community relations, special events, marketing and communications, external affairs and governmental affairs. She also serves as executive director of the Langston University Foundation.

“I am honored to be selected by Governor Fallin to be of service to the great state of Oklahoma,” Jones said. “I look forward to working with the remarkable team at the Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs to serve our at-risk youth and positively impact the system.”

Jones has been actively engaged in corporate, nonprofit, and education administration for more than a decade, and has consulted with countless not-for-profit and educational organizations and institutions in California, Ohio and Oklahoma. Prior to being named vice president at Langston, Jones served as director of development for the nonprofit White Fields, Inc.

Buck, OJA’s executive director. “Ms. Jones brings post-secondary education experience to our board in addition to services that are designed to serve at-risk youth.  She will be an important voice as we facilitate continued conversations to address our core priorities of education – career preparation, healthy lives and quality relationships.”
