Fire at marijuana business was unlicensed in Logan County

A fire last week at a marijuana business along Waterloo Road, in Logan County, was not licensed properly, according to the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics.

Guthrie News Page reported the fire on April 25 with multiple fire departments responding to 6997 Highwater Circle for a structure fire. Firefighters knocked the fire down quickly but had to shut down portions of the road.

OBN also responded and found the business did not have an active OBN Registration or a Certificate of Occupancy showing the business met the fire code.

“We have responded to numerous fires and explosions at marijuana businesses over the past several years,” OBN Spokesman Mark Woodward said in a social media post.

He continued, “Many of these fires are the result of wiring or chemical storage that would never have passed a fire inspection. These structures are not only a hazard for employees and customers but also first responders having to work these cases.”

Woodward said arrests and charges are expected as this investigation moves forward.
