Local cadets complete JROTC Cadet Leader Challenge

Earlier this month, four students from the ‘89er Battalion completed the JROTC Cadet Leader Challenge (JCLC) at Camp Gruber, Oklahoma.

Freshman Jacob Porter, Landen Russell, Cody Perkins, and Junior Alycea Reese joined over 100 cadets from six JROTC programs across the state in this course.

JCLC is designed to challenge students physically and mentally and to help develop their leadership, communication, and social skills. They participated in a variety of events including the obstacle course, water survival training, basic land navigation, and a leaders’ reaction course.

The highlight is completing the Oklahoma Army National Guard rappelling course and descending a 60-foot tower.

All four accomplished this feat and will earn their JCLC Ribbon and Rappelling badge in the fall. Congratulations to Jacob, Landen, Cody, and Alycea!
