In honor of National Public Health Week, the Logan County Health Department is joining the American Public Health Association in engaging communities to take an active role in creating environments where good health is within everyone’s reach.
The campaign brings awareness to key public health topics, which are crucial in achieving the primary goal of becoming the healthiest nation. Factors such as behavioral health, communicable diseases, environmental health, injury and violence prevention and ensuring the right to health are rooted in how and where people live, learn, work and play.
The Logan County Health Department plays a vital role in creating healthy environments for families and the entire community.
“It’s important to have safe communities where making the healthy choice is the easy choice,” said Regional Director Gunnar McFadden. “The staff at the Logan County Health Department work diligently every day while providing a number of services which contribute to the health and safety of the public.”
Public health and prevention programs delivered by the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) and its network of county health departments immunize children, screen for infectious diseases, protect the public from disasters and disease outbreaks, screen newborns for health problems, promote healthy lifestyles to reduce chronic conditions, assure quality in health care and consumer services, and promote on-the-job wellness and safety.
The Logan County Health Department was recently granted national accreditation for five years by the Public Health Accreditation Board. We are proud to be recognized for demonstrating the capacity to protect and promote the health of our community. The achievement of national accreditation will help guide our work to better protect, promote and preserve the health of the people in our community.
