In an emergency meeting this morning the Logan County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to immediately institute an outdoor Burn Ban in Logan County until July 29th.
Logan County has joined the other 46 counties under a burn ban in Oklahoma.
The City of Guthrie has been under the burn ban since June 27th and continues until further notice.
During a burn ban, it is unlawful for any person to set fire to any forest, grass, range, crop or other wildland, or to build a campfire, bonfire or to burn their trash or other material that could cause a wildfire. Exceptions to Logan County’s burn ban includes charcoal and gas grills.
Welding and agricultural burning is only allowed with a burn permit from the Guthrie Fire Department. Any individual violating this burn ban will be subject to a $500 fine and up to one year in jail.
