Jim Bauman, Logan County Sheriff, recently achieved Certification for County Sheriffs. To complete the initial certification in the county sheriff’s program, Bauman took four courses for a total of 42 hours of instruction.
Bauman was honored at the County Sheriff’s Annual Conference held recently in Midwest City.
Oklahoma State University worked with the County Sheriff’s Association of Oklahoma to institute the voluntary certification program in 2001. Course work for sheriffs and their deputies includes County Budget Process, County Purchasing Procedures, Treasurer’s and Sheriff’s Tax Warrants, and Managing Personnel in an At-Will Organization.
Courses in the certification program are conducted through the County Training Program, part of the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service at Oklahoma State University. The County Training Program is mandated by state statute and is authorized under the Commission on County Government Personnel Education and Training.
County Sheriffs also receive CLEET credit for all of the courses in the Sheriff’s program.
Instructors from OSU teach the classes for county officers and deputies at various locations throughout the state, and at the Extension offices in Tulsa and Oklahoma City. In addition to sheriffs, the OSU staff also conducts dozens of classes each year for other county officer certification programs. Many of the courses, which are usually taught in a classroom setting for 20-40 people, are attended by representatives from each of the elective and some appointive departments in county government.
More information about educational training for county officers may be obtained by contacting the County Training Program on the Stillwater campus at 405-744-6160, or by visiting the website at http://www.agecon.okstate.edu/ctp.
I rarely drop comments, however I read a few of the responses on this page
Logan County Sheriff receives certification « Guthrie News Page. I actually do have 2 questions for you if it’s allright. Could it be just me or do some of the comments look like they are coming from brain dead individuals? 😛 And, if you are posting at additional online sites, I’d like to keep up with you.
Could you list of the complete urls of your shared pages like your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?
Hi! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any trouble with hackers?
My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing months of hard
work due to no back up. Do you have any solutions to protect against hackers?
I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was curious what all is needed to get set up? I’m
assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?
I’m not very internet smart so I’m not 100% positive. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated. Kudos
Do you mind if I quote a couple of your articles
as long as I provide credit and sources back to your weblog?
My website is in the exact same niche as yours
and my visitors would really benefit from a lot of the information you provide here.
Please let me know if this ok with you. Appreciate it!
