Mercy Hospital in Logan County has closed their existing surgery unit. The hospital tells Guthrie News Page a decision will be shared as to what may happen to the operating room full-time in the coming weeks.
“We are constantly evaluating how we best manage our resources at the hospital. As you may have heard, we have stopped scheduling surgeries at Mercy Hospital Logan County as we focus our time and attention on developing a comprehensive surgery solution that is convenient for our patients and serves our community,” administrator of Mercy Hospital Logan County Josh Tucker said in an email to Guthrie News Page.
“We hope to have a decision to share in the coming weeks.”
Tucker went on to say, “During this time of planning for our future, the needs of co-workers and patients will be met. Nursing co-workers will remain on staff working in our outpatient department, wound care and at our Mercy Clinic locations in Logan County.”
The local hospital is partnering with the Mercy outpatient surgery facility in Edmond and Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City to take care of patients scheduled for upcoming surgeries.
“We look forward to finding new and different ways of working together to serve our community in the days and weeks ahead,” Tucker said.
