The Meridian Volunteer Fire Department has added a new brush pumper to its fleet, enhancing its ability to respond to grass fires and rural emergencies across the district.
The purchase was made possible by the Logan County sales tax, which is evenly distributed among county fire departments and provides critical funding for equipment and operations.

Department leaders expressed gratitude to those who helped make the addition possible, including board members, firefighters, and community supporters.
“We would like to graciously send thanks to everyone for their continued support and dedication in helping add this new brush pumper to the arsenal,” Jason Smith with the department said.
Special recognition was given to Fire Chief John Pross, department officers and firefighters, and District 2 Commissioner Floyd Coffman for their support throughout the process.
The department also thanked the residents of the Meridian Fire District, Alpha One Fire Trucks, and those who continue to support firefighters and their families.
Officials say the new brush pumper will play a key role in improving response capabilities, particularly in rural and wildfire situations, as the department continues its mission to protect lives and property in Logan County.
