Aaron Montgomery, a 2000 graduate of Guthrie High School, is one of four Americans invited to compete this weekend in the UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup event in Saas Fee Switzerland.
Montgomery, who now lives in Westminister, Co., has been participating in climbing competitions throughout the U.S. for several years and is excited about being selected to represent the U.S. in the international event.
This will be the first year that the U.S. sends a team to compete.
Although, Montgomery is unsure how he and his U.S. teammates will do in their first international competition, but says he is just happy to be there and get to experience it all.
Montgomery and his team is sponsored by CAMP USA Climbing Equipment.
While in Europe he will also compete in the Italian Alps before returning home on February 4.
Aaron is the son of Steve and Kathy Montgomery and along with his wife Heather (Shelton) own Quray Environmental Services.
