Local State Representative Jason Murphey has been named as the Chairman of the House of Representatives’ State Government Operations Committee.
The committee functions as the successor to the Government Modernization Committee which Murphey previously chaired and which approved a series of proposals designed to streamline state government processes.
“Working together, members of the Legislature and the Governor have made much progress in cutting the cost of government operations. It’s our responsibility to monitor the ongoing implementation of these reforms and bring the next generation of cost saving proposals to the Legislature,” Murphey explained.
Murphey’s appointment came on Friday as House Speaker Jeff Hickman announced the assignment of committee leadership positions for the next two years.
