Lion President, John Wood (L) presents recognitions of “Student of the Month” to Kaylea Hopfer (C) and Tyler Porter (R) for their outstanding achievements

The Guthrie Noon Lions Club recently honored two outstanding seniors, Kaylea Hopfer and Tyler Porter, from Guthrie High School. 

Kaylea Hopfer, the daughter of Jennifer and Chris Hopfer, is a valedictorian for her class and has been the President of the school’s Future Farmers of America (FFA) for the last two years. She is a member of the Student Council and the Guthrie High Tennis Team and was selected to attend Girls State last May. She intends on attending OSU in the fall with a major in Agriculture Economics.

Tyler Porter, the son of Laura and Casey Porter, is an academic All-State candidate, was selected by the Edmond Elks as the “Outstanding Junior of the Year” and attended Boys State in May. He plays 1st Chair trumpet for the High School and was awarded 4th Chair at state competition. Tyler is a member of the Junior ROTC and the golf and cross country track teams. He plans on attending OSU’s College of Engineering next fall.
