Nationwide recall of nearly 300 types of canned coffee

In a nationwide alert, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a significant recall of nearly 300 types of canned coffee products distributed through various coffee roasters and retailers.

Snapchill LLC, a Wisconsin-based company, is voluntarily recalling all its canned coffee products that are still within their expiration dates after discovering that their manufacturing process could potentially lead to a fatal form of food poisoning.

According to the FDA, the recall stems from concerns that the manufacturing process used by Snapchill LLC “could lead to the growth and production of the deadly toxin, botulinum toxin, in low acid canned foods.”

This toxin is known to cause botulism, a rare but serious illness that, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), can result in difficulty breathing, muscle paralysis, and even death. Symptoms of botulism can manifest between six hours and two weeks after consuming contaminated food.

Identifying the Recalled Products

The affected canned coffee products were sold under a variety of roaster and brand names, and in metal cans ranging from 7 oz to 12 oz. The FDA has provided specific details to help consumers identify the recalled items. Look for the language “Produced and distributed by Snapchill LLC” underneath the nutrition facts panel. Additionally, some products may feature the text “Snapchill Coffee” on the label.

Here is the complete list.
