Neighborhood Solutions receives grant to help improve homes

The Community Foundation of Central Electric Cooperative board recently approved a $1,800 grant to First Capital Neighborhood Solutions Foundation, which will help fund the organization’s DIY Home Improvement Program.

FCNS is a nonprofit organization that helps provide resources that will strengthen, develop and improve neighborhoods located in Guthrie, Okla. FCNS also serves as a resource center to help establish neighborhood associations to encourage neighbor connections.

In partnership with Home Depot, FCNS offers the DIY Home Improvement Program to provide lower-income residents with new home improvement items to help beautify and/or repair their home, they will be providing a home depot coupon so that they can have a great discount when getting products.

And this may not stop at just improvements for the home. There could also be the possibility of residents being able to improve and update their backyards to make it easier for them to access, like having a company similar to Dino Decking providing them with a choice of many different decking materials to improve the garden, giving you the opportunity to continue using this space for when your family comes over.

This could also help with curb appeal should they decide to sell it. Some residents will be able to use the assistance of companies such as Tip Top Garage Doors, to help sort out an issue of a faulty garage door.

Regardless of what needs improving, there is no denying that this grant can make such a difference. There is no denying that home improvement projects can be very expensive, but this generous grant will be greatly appreciated.

That being said, not everyone is fortunate enough to receive a grant towards their latest home improvement project. However, if you are considering carrying out some renovation work on your property it is important to remember that there are a number of alternative solutions out there that can help you to pay for your next home refurbishment.

For instance, you might have heard about equity release. Provided that you are a homeowner aged 55 and over, there is a chance that you might be able to release tax-free funds from your home without having to move. Equity release is an increasingly popular way for people approaching retirement age to finance a home improvement project and therefore it is a possibility that is well worth researching.

Tempted to give equity release a try for yourself? If so, check out this equity release calculator to determine how much money you might be entitled to claim based on the value of your property. As with any major financial decision, just be sure to compare all of your options before agreeing to take out a loan that is secured against your property as there is a lot to think about.

Currently, the grant program is open to residents of Logan, Payne, and Lincoln counties. They’ll likely find that more people are looking for other improvement services, a bit like Emporia Home Services for furnace repair. The grant will really help people get back to fixing and improving the things they’ve not been able to do for so long!

FCNS has a variety of other programs, such as organizing neighborhood watch groups, grant assistance for neighborhood groups, grant assistance and financial assistance for home repairs, financial assistance for homeownership, financial counseling and credit report repair, workshops and forums, and beautification programs.
