A new housing subdivision is being developed on the west side of Guthrie and the progress is now becoming visible.
The subdivision is located east of the existing Silver Valley Addition at 2501 W. Oklahoma. The new Silent Harvest Addition will welcome 40 families to Guthrie, according to City Manager Matt Mueller.
The three and four bedroom, single family home development sets of a 26 acre site. Phase I consists of 40 units and Phase II will consist of 38 units, all of which will be new construction.
Leading the development is Desert Ridge Investments, Inc. In December, the city council approved to authorize fee waivers of building permits and/or inspection fees or other city-provided services in the amount of $14,001.
Mueller labeled several benefits that the City of Guthrie would get in return last December, “jobs (will be) created as a result of $5 million in construction, a possible sales tax revenue of $90,000 in construction, water and sewer billing revenue from 40 homes and a total project investment in the community of $7,088,664.”
The infrastructure for the development including sewer, water and streets has already been installed. About one half of the homes have had their below-grade plumbing installed and 25% of the homes are now being framed.
