Newborn tests positive for meth; Mother and baby now missing

Update at 9:55 p.m. on Friday — Sheriff’s Office says the missing female and child, Nichole Kerschner and Wesley Ohrt, from Logan County have been found. The family cooperated with authorities and assisted with locating them. The child has been placed in the custody of the Department of Human Services.

Logan County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a woman and her newborn child. The baby tested positive for methamphetamine at a hospital. Now, deputies say she continues to use meth and breastfeeding the child.

In a statement, the Sheriff’s Office say 26-year-old Nicole Leeann Kerschner gave birth to a male child under a fictitious name at Baptist Hospital on Feb. 12.

Oklahoma County DHS was notified, but apparently Kerschner left the hospital with the child on February 15, prior to the child being placed in protective custody.

Det. Greg Valencia says Kerschner has been seen in the Guthrie as well as In Oklahoma City in the area of S.W. 15th to S.W. 29th and Meridian Ave.

Valencia went on to say on the child and female is listed as missing and or endangered.
