The Logan County District Attorney’s Office is releasing a few more details in the arrest of two Crescent men, including a 22-year-old charged with five counts of lewd molestation.
According to a release from the office, Tyler Wayne Cook is accused of abusing at least five victims, all under the age of 18.
Three of the counts allege that in 2010, the accused molested a 7-year-old child, an 8-year-old child and an 11-year-old child. One count alleges that in 2011 the accused molested a 4-year-old child. One count alleges that in 2013 the accused molested an 8-year-old child.
District Attorney Laura Austin Thomas said, “We take seriously crimes against children, who many times do not now what to do or where to turn when they are victims of molestation, particularly at the hands of family, friends, or acquaintances.”
The affidavit for arrest warrant, prepared by Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Special Agent Lynda Stevens, states that three of the allegations occurred at the home of Cook’s uncle, Jason Privett.
Privett has been charged with two counts of Witness Intimidation from an incident that occurred at the Guthrie Wal-Mart wherein the charges allege the accused was intimidating one of Cook’s victims and her mother.
“These are difficult cases to prosecute as the process can be traumatizing to the victims,” Austin Thomas said. “Thankfully, we have attorneys skilled in the prosecution of sex crimes and a victim-witness center that assists them throughout the long process!”
