The Guthrie Fire Department, along with Oak Cliff Fire Department, responded to the 6000 block of Lakeshore Dr. just after 3 p.m. One person was at home at the time and was able to get outside and call 911 when she saw the fire and smoke.
Once fire crews arrived, smoke could be seen leaving throughout the entire home.
Firefighters were seen breaking windows and cutting a portion of the roof to help filter the smoke and keep the fire to a minimum.
Once inside, firefighters located four cats, who were trapped. Sadly, four of the five cats were unable to be saved. Firefighters were seen in the front yard of the residence giving one cat oxygen while performing CPR.
Guthrie Fire Chief Eric Harlow says the source of the fire came from a front bedroom used as an office. Harlow went on to say the cause of the fire came from an electrical issue.
The home received heavy smoke and water damage, but it was not certain if the home was a total loss.
