Pine St. down to one lane leading to cemetery

For those planning to visit Summit View Cemetery this holiday weekend, travel will be altered due to road damage.

A head wall at a bridge on the busy street gave way after the latest round of heavy rains.

City street crews were forced to close one lane on Pine St. Sunday morning.

The storm water under the bridge is a run off that comes from the area of the housing addition Canyon Bluff Estates.

Motorists are asked to drive with caution.

Other roads currently closed (Sunday, May 26 at 9 a.m.):

  • US-77 is closed at the Cimarron River three miles north of Guthrie
  • US-77 is closed eight miles south of SH-51 near Mulhall.
  • SH-74F is closed between Cashion and SH-33 due to pavement damage.

North Pine street, from Noble to the Cemetery, is a complete disaster and a disgrace to the City of Guthrie. It has been neglected for far too long. There are several one blocks streets nearby that have been completely resurfaced that only contain three or four houses on them. Yet the main thoroughfare to the cemetery, and Guthrie Public schools bus barn and fields only gets a bit of blacktop or gravel occasionally thrown in them. This bridge that has recently closed has been reported numerous times as falling in, yet we only get a patch blacktop over the top. What is it going to take to resurface this road???? A school bus full of children turning over, or a cemetery procession falling into a collapsed bridge??? Wake up City of Guthrie

Ditto to Ms. Bolding’s comments. This should be placed as a TOP priority to widen N. Pine from Noble Ave to Cooksey, replace bridges with modern up-to-date structures, place sidewalks at least from E. Noble to Hillcrest for school children to safely use, and totally resurface. It is a shame that a funeral procession is not given the dignity of a decent ride to the burial site of a loved one. Step up, Guthrie, you can do it!
