Video: Police officers, teachers help motivate 3rd graders for upcoming tests

Sadly for many third grade students and their teachers, stress plays a role when the testing season starts. Monday officially kick starts the beginning for state testing. Making sure they are ready, officers with the Guthrie Police Department and teachers helped kick off the season with a pep talk and breakfast.

As you walk up and down the main hallway of Fogarty Elementary, there are several signs and posters hanging on the wall and classroom doors made from first and second grade classrooms to let the third grade students know they’re cheering them on to do well.

Downstairs in the music room, second grade teachers came together to prepare breakfast for the third grade teachers. Biscuits and gravy, eggs, fruit and beverages were on the menu to go along with a smile and a “go get them” sentiment.

Back upstairs in the school auditorium, three Guthrie officers addressed the students by encouraging them to get plenty of sleep at night, eat a good breakfast, come to school with a clear mind and they will do just fine.

Following the assembly, officers made their way to the hallway and gave students a high five and words of encouragement as they made their way to class.

Yes, testing season is here for students and teachers at Fogarty Elementary, but they are ready for the task.
