Property Valuation Limitation “Senior Freeze” has been increased by HUD

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has increased the Property Valuation Limitation, also known as the Senior Freeze, to a total gross household income of $73,800 or less.

This exemption freezes the assessed taxable value of homestead property for those age 65 or older with a gross household income of $73,800 or less.

First approved by voters in 1996, the measure permits senior householders after they turn 65 to freeze the value of their home for tax purposes if they meet certain income limits. Income limits are linked to the county median household income as determined by HUD.

Contact the Logan County Assessor’s Office at 405-282-3509 for more information and to apply for the exemption.
