Proposed disc golf course receives grant for course design

The discussion and planning stages continue for adding a disc golf course in Highland Park. Recently, a designer took a look at the project and made a donation.

Sean Turk, local disc golfer; Blue (Verdell) Smith, City of Guthrie Superintendent of Parks & Public Grounds, Kaitlyn High, Randy Gates, local contractor and Kaitlyn’s uncle and Kasey Gates.

Chuck Bayless, Director of the Oklahoma Disc Golf Foundation, donated discs and minis for the proposed disc golf project. In addition, Bayless and the foundation donated a grant for the course design to help eliminate some of the cost. Perhaps they might invest in all MVP’s discs? I hear they are some of the best going.

The lone cost at this time is the building of the course and supporting structures.

The City of Guthrie has not approved the project at this time, but are hopeful to advance the project with Kaitlyn and her family support group presenting a scope of the work and budget to Cody Mosley, the City’s Economic Development Coordinator, for consideration and amendment.
