A new assistant district attorney has been named for Logan County by Laura Thomas, district attorney for Logan-Payne counties.
Rebecca Ross officially took the position on Tuesday after being sworn in by Associate District Judge Luke Duel in front of friends and family inside the Logan County Courthouse.
Ross replaces Tyson Braynan, who recently retired.
Ross, 27, was homeschooled in Guthrie and graduated from the University of Oklahoma this past May. She says she excited to be working in a town where her family lives.
“This is the job I wanted. I’m very excited to be here and I hope to do my best to serve the people of this community,” Ross said in her third floor office that has yet to be decorated.
Ross moved to Guthrie when she was 15.
“I have already seen names that I have recognized (police officers). It’s neat to be in my home town.”
Prior to accepting her current position, Ross interned for two years at Oklahoma County. Part of her duties, included researching and writing while serving on the special victims unit, domestic violence team, the general felony team and the juvenile division.
