Despite not being able to play for the last two plus weeks (16 days) both the Guthrie girls and boys basketball teams have learned their regional destination.
The Lady Jays (8-7), who are ranked No. 14th this week in the coaches poll, will be headed to the Bishop McGuinness regional as the No. 8 seed. Their opponent will be No. 9 seed Northwest Classen. McGuinness, the top overall seed in the West, will play the lowest seeded team in Noble.
The girls regional will begin Thursday, February 24th, and conclude on Saturday afternoon, February 26th. For the complete 5A girls West and East brackets visit the home page of Guthrie Sports Page.
For the BlueJays, they are headed to the Northwest Classen regional. Guthrie (8-8) dropped two spots in the coaches rankings to No. 16. The Jays will be the No. 9 seed and will play the No. 8 seed Carl Albert in the first game. Northwest Classen, the overall No. 1 seed in the West, will play Noble.

Each first round winner in regionals automatically qualifies for the Area Tournament the following week while the losers season comes to an end.
Guthrie will return back to the floor with games Friday and Saturday. The Jays will travel to Carl Albert, on Friday, for their regular schedule game and then a make up game with Deer Creek, on Saturday, with special times on Saturday. The Lady Jays will play at 3:30 and the Jays to follow at 5:00. The junior varsity teams will begin Saturday afternoon at 12:45 (girls) and 2:00 (boys).
