OKLAHOMA CITY – Rep. Collin Duel, R-Guthrie, has been appointed to multiple positions for the upcoming legislature, including Vice Chair of the Judiciary & Public Safety Oversight Committee, Chair for the Civil Subcommittee, Assistant Majority Floor Leader, and Presiding Officer.
As Vice Chair of the Judiciary & Public Safety Oversight Committee, Rep. Duel will assist in overseeing legislative initiatives related to Oklahoma’s judicial system, law enforcement, and public safety. His role as Chair of the Civil Subcommittee will focus on the review and development of legislation impacting civil law.
Duel was elected to House District 31 in 2022. His professional background as an attorney provides a unique perspective on legislative issues, particularly those involving judicial and public safety matters.
“I am eager to step into these new roles for the 60th Legislature,” said Duel. “I am dedicated to promoting judiciary and public safety policies that ensure the safety and security of Oklahomans, their rights, and their property. I look forward to building on the progress we’ve made and working with my colleagues to address the critical challenges facing our state.”
In his capacity as Assistant Majority Floor Leader, Duel will assist the House Majority Floor Leader Josh West, R-Grove, and help guide the legislative process, manage the House floor schedule, and ensure the smooth progression of bills through the House. As Presiding Officer, he is one of eleven members charged with the role in maintaining order and decorum during House proceedings.
“Collin’s leadership and legal expertise have been invaluable to the House, and we are excited to see him take on these new roles,” said House Speaker Kyle Hilbert. “His commitment to fairness, coupled with two years under his belt, will help guide important legislative decisions for the people of Oklahoma.”
The 60th legislature is set to begin on Monday, February 3rd.
