The Guthrie Board of Education approved new band uniforms, honored the Guthrie Wrestling program, accepted the resignation of a principal and approved district policies.
In their regular scheduled meeting on March 12th, the board approved 6-1 to replace the 10-plus year band uniforms with a total of 140 new uniforms and 60 garment bags. The cost came in at $49,415.80.
Board member Travis Sallee casted the lone no vote.

The board approved to revised two district policies on the term of office of the superintendent and sanctioning of student activity organizations. After a 6-1 vote, future superintendent will be required to reside within the boundaries of the district. However, the policy could lead to future litigation. The other revision came under the sanctioning of student activity organizations (C-21) with three new additions. Highlighting the revision is organizations must now maintain bank, financial, and tax exempt status separate from the school. Each group must annually, or when asked upon, provide set of financial records, or a treasurer’s report.
In Superintendent Terry Simpson’s report, the wrestling team was recognized for winning the programs first ever Academic State Championship. Head coach Jack O’Connor spoke on behalf the team who won with a 3.65 grade point average.

– assigned Justin Stevens to assist Ric Meshew with High School Boy’s Golf for 2012
