It was a bumpy ride to school for some Guthrie school children Thursday morning after a truck smashed into the side of their school bus.
Just after 7 a.m. emergency crews responded to the intersection of Sooner Rd. and Division St. for a two vehicle accident involving a Guthrie school bus and a red pickup truck.
An officer was quickly on the scene and reported there were no injuries, but requested the fire department after light smoke was seen coming from the truck.
Police say the school bus (No. 13) was attempting to turn northbound from Sooner Rd onto Division St. when the red truck, who was travelling southbound on Division St., ran through a red light and struck the middle of the bus in the middle of the intersection.
Approximately 20 students were on board at the time of the crash. Luckily, there were no injuries reported at the scene.
After police collected information, the bus was able to drive away and was able to deliver the students to school. The truck, which appeared to be totaled, was towed from the scene.
The driver of the truck was issued a citation for disobeying a traffic light.
The roadway was blocked for 30 minutes.
